Dave and Shona's Wedding at Taunton Register Office, Somerset

A Swift Drink and Nervous Anticipation

The day began with Dave, the groom, and his best man and brother, stopping by the well placed Pitcher and Piano Pub opposite for a quick drink.  A moment to mark the beginning of a journey that would lead them to the historic Old Municipal Buildings, home to the Taunton Register Office.

As the clock ticked closer to the ceremony, nerves and just a little bit of anticipation were starting to show on Dave’s face. Dave was joined by his mother and a gathering of close friends and family, it’s times like these when you understand how important your family are. Dave moved inside to await the arrival of Shona, all carefully planned so that the first look was when Shona entered the room.

A Fashionably Late Entrance and Nervousness in the Air

The scene changed as the focus shifted to the arrival of Shona. Accompanied by their young children and Shona's parents, she made her her way up the registry office steps. There was just time for a little bit of hair styling for their eldest who had the important role of ring bearer. Mum and dad were there to steady the nerves.

Nervous Moments and Heartfelt Exchange

The time came for the ceremony, a short and meaningful exchange of vows that would bind Dave and Shona in matrimony. In the intimate setting of the Vivary Room, Dave nervously awaited his bride. It’s a beautiful room, and guests took their places either side. The room seemed to hold its breath as Shona made her entrance, there were little nervous glances and smiles shared in the few fleeting moments as Shona walked across the Vivary Room accompanied by her father.

The heartfelt vows, the promises and just the odd moment that needed a tissue. Their eldest child played a special role, carrying the rings, a special day that he also wouldn’t forget.

Natural Light and Candid Moments

Following the ceremony, the there were cheers and clapping and the smiles said it all! On the way out from the building there was the perfect opportunity to capture a few special moments of the newlyweds bathed in the gentle natural light filtering through the Old Municipal Building's windows and into the foyer.  I love that special moment, straight after the ceremony when a couple is still flushed with excitement and I get to capture their first quiet moments together. Genuinely special!

Confetti, Group Shots, and Everlasting Memories

As the celebration continued, we moved outdoors for the traditional confetti moment, a flurry of colour more smiles, and, after the quiet, good behaviour inside, the kids squealing excitement as they realised that they had something fun to do. Group shots on the iconic steps of the Register Office are a bit of a must. I had a spotter to prevent me stepping too far into the road, and we, just about, got shots of all the kids looking in the right direction!
