Love Across Continents: Three Weddings and a Meadow

Anna and Alistair celebrate their wedding and share a kiss in the meadow

In the realm of love and matrimony, 2023 marked an extraordinary chapter in the lives of Alistair and Anna. This dynamic duo, with hearts intertwined, embarked on a remarkable journey—a journey that saw not one, not two, but THREE wedding celebrations unfolding in three distinct countries. Yes, you heard that right—three distinct chapters dedicated to celebrating their epic love story. Brace yourselves, for this is a tale of romance that defies borders and redefines love itself.

My first encounter with this incredible couple was during an anniversary shoot for Alistair's parents. I was tasked with capturing the essence of the guests, candidly and in various group settings throughout the afternoon. There was a whisper that Alistair and Anna were somewhat camera-shy, and capturing a perfect shot might be a challenge. However, reality proved to be quite the opposite. Young love is a wonderous thing and Alistair and Anna summed it up, wrapped up in each other’s gaze and arms their photographs were beautiful.

It wasn’t a huge surprise then, when Alistair’s mum was back in touch earlier this year to tell me they had tied the knot.

Shortly after our last encounter, the blissful couple had packed their bags and ventured across the Atlantic to Canada, where their love story would take another momentous turn—the promise of forever. aahhhh 🥰

They exchanged vows in what was described to me as a ‘Kitchen Ceremony’. I’m not sure if this is actually a thing in Canada, but the photographs were beautiful, Anna in a simple white dress, Alistair looking smart as ever, standing in their kitchen amongst the pots and pans! The Marriage License Issuer and a neighbour were all who attended their small and oh so intimate ceremony. The photographs, taken on a phone camera were pure heartfelt emotion, this couple were one hundred percent made for each other!

Still, there are families who don’t want to miss out! The next chapter of their matrimonial journey beckoned. Anna's parents, who live in Poland, played a significant role in orchestrating the second act. The picturesque landscapes of Poland bore witness to a much bigger celebration of love, bringing the two families together across borders and cultures.

But, as they say, all good things come in threes!

Somerset was the setting for the third chapter, and back to the beautiful wildmeadow garden where I had first met them.

I could hold the first picture I took of them, not long after they had met,  side by side with the last series I took for their wedding celebration, and you would not be able to tell the difference, well, apart from their clothes that is. This happy couple have something so deeply special and it was a real pleasure to photograph them again.

As we raise our glasses to Alistair and Anna, we toast to a future filled with love, adventure, and cherished memories. Their journey from meadow, to kitchen, to Poland, to meadow and back to Canadian kitchen reminds me that love is strong, knows no boundaries and that, even in a world of uncertainty, it endures. Here's to an extraordinary couple and the many adventures that lie ahead!
