Every mother must feel it - the journey through pregnancy is nothing short of miraculous. From the moment you discover the tiny life growing inside you, to the day they burst into the world, the transformation is awe-inspiring. As a mother of twins myself, I vividly remember the whirlwind of emotions that accompanied every little kick and flutter. Now, working as a photographer to help mums document their journey through pregnancy, I still find it amazing how how maternity photographs have the remarkable power to transport us back to those quiet, special moments when emotions ran so deep.

The Marvel of Maternity

Before delving into the enchanting world of maternity photography, let's pause for a moment to appreciate the sheer wonder of pregnancy. Did you know that, prior to birth, a baby has around three hundred bones? That's right, three hundred! When I was carrying my twins, I couldn't help but calculate that I was essentially a "bag o' bones." Yet, behind the grinning facade captured in a few snapshots, a complex mix of emotions swirled within me – happiness, anticipation, and yes, nerves.

There were still moments, when the world stood still, and it was just me and my ever-growing bump. In those quiet times, I found solace in singing softly to my unborn children. Singing became a thread of connection, a way to bridge the gap between the known and the unknown. Little did I know what was about to burst into the world – the noise, the chaos, the floods of emotion, and above all, the profound love. Some things never change.

A Glowing Mum's Experience

Recently, a special mother walked into our studio, radiating the unique glow that only expectant mothers possess. She brought along a dress to try on, but she also enjoyed trying on some of the beautiful maternity gowns available in my studio. WE made use of the gorgeous natural light to start the session and then moved onto some softly lit studio light shots, capturing the essence of her pregnancy journey.

It wasn’t just that mu was absolutely stunning (she really was), but she also exuded a deep sense of inner peace, it sings out in her photographs.
