To start with, Fine Art Photography is not candid photography that captures a fleeting moment in time, it isn’t capturing an event or occasion and it is not photo journalism. A fine art portrait photograph is luxury portrait photograph intended as beautiful wall art. In contrast with photojournalism, a fine art portrait image is created using all of a photographer’s artistic skills, not just camera skills. As your photographer I work to create a piece of impactful art to capture the character of the sitter that you will be proud to hang on your wall. Fine Art Photography Portraits are carefully planned and considered, they are the heirlooms of the future and something that will be handed down and admired for generations to come.

You can expect an initial consultation. I will ask to meet the sitter or see photographs and, if possible, have a chat, before starting to plan the colours, theme, props and feel of the shoot. You will be invited to my studio where lighting and any agreed props will be ready. I have a private room to change if needed. Posing is a strong element of Fine Art portraits and each image captured will involve working together to create the timeless looks using classical lighting techniques. The process doesn’t stop here - depending on the look we are aiming for I may use state-of-the art editing and processing software to add extra layers, depth, wash and finishing effects to your final images.

My basic fee is £125 and includes initial consultation, one hours studio time, a gallery of images to choose from and a print in 14x11” deluxe mount. Wall art is priced separately and depends on size and if you choose to print on Fine Art Paper (recommended). Larger prints also need to be professionally mounted to preserve and prevent wrinkles. I have a small selection of demonstration frames for you to view, and I have links with a brilliant local framer to finish your masterpiece.
